Welcome!
My name is Joe Scannell and I am a junior at Marquette University majoring in Writing Intensive English and minoring in Public Relations and Advertising. Taking a very active role on campus, I am currently a baritone in the Marquette Naturals acappella group and a proud brother of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
I have held many communications internships across the country. At the American Lung Association’s National HQ in Washington, D.C., directly under the heads of Public Relations and Communications I drafted press releases, grant proposals, articles, and cataloged media coverage. In Chicago, at Jayne Thompson & Associates Ltd., I was exposed to crisis planning and management, litigation support, public affairs, media relations, as well as philanthropic and networking support services. I am currently the Marquette Campus CEO for Zaarly, Inc. in charge of recruiting, hiring, and managing a team of 10 students while developing and executing various marketing and social media strategies.
On campus, I am in charge of Public Relations for The Naturals and am the Vice President of Communications for my fraternity which includes being the designer and manager our chapter’s official website. After joining the Marquette chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America I was hired as an Assistant Account Executive at GoldinPR Student Firm. I also work as a Public Relations Assistant in the Communications Department of Marquette University's Student Government.
I possess an insatiable hunger for excellence and I rarely accept anything but the best. I have an extensive amount of leadership experience through various campus and ROTC activities. In addition to my experience I am also well versed in social media, graphic design, creative and professional writing, public and media relations, as well as marketing practices. I believe that I have a firm and eclectic grasp on professional communications skills and I am interested in broadening my experience in the field of communications specifically through public relations, marketing, and advertising internships.
